How fast is Hyundai Kona’s battery degradation?

I’m searching for an electric crossover SUV, and the Hyundai Kona is on my list. I’m taking cost, size, and battery range into account, but I’m also researching battery degradation. How quickly does a Kona battery degrade?

Sounds like you’re on top of things! The
Hyundai Kona
comes with either a 39-kWh or 64-kWh lithium-ion battery—while there’s no specific rate of degradation, your driving style, charging habits, and environmental conditions will all affect how quickly the battery degrades, regardless of size.
In general, electric vehicle batteries degrade around one to three percent in the first year and up to 20% total after the first five years of ownership. Most batteries last for 10 to 20 years with regular battery and
vehicle maintenance
.
To make your battery last longer, get in the habit of using a Level Two charger instead of a quick charger, avoid charging your battery to 100%, and don’t store your Kona out in excessively high temperatures.
If, for some reason, your Kona battery loses more than 30% of its capacity, check your warranty. Hyundai covers the battery against excess degradation for the first 10 years or 100,000 miles of ownership.
