How does Florida prevent distracted driving?

I’m a concerned mother who has a daughter turning 16. I’ve read a lot in the news about accidents with teens due to distracted driving. We live in Florida. What is the government doing to prevent distracted driving?

Distracted driving
is a problem throughout the country, but
Florida
was notoriously lax on such laws until recently.
As of January 1, 2020, Florida rolled out the Put It Down campaign to prevent distracted driving. The campaign was designed to show the dangers of distracted driving or texting and driving.
On top of radio and television ads, Florida now levies a $30 ticket for those who text and drive or use their phone behind the wheel. For repeat offenders, the fine increases to $60. Drivers also receive three to six points on their licenses.
While Florida may have some lovely beaches and amazing food, it’s also one of the most expensive places to live. So while you can save money by avoiding traffic tickets, you can save even more by shopping around for better-priced car insurance with the
Jerry
app.
Jerry is a licensed insurance broker that will collect quotes from over 50 top-rated insurers in minutes. After you find a great rate, Jerry can help you buy new insurance and cancel your old policy. Users save an average of $887 per year.
