How do you remove points from your driving record in Florida?

I got a bunch of points on my driving record two years ago, and it’s keeping me from getting a job. How can I get these points removed from my Florida driving record?

There are two ways to have points removed from your Florida driving record—attend traffic school or let them expire.
Traffic points take 36 months (3 years) to expire. After that time period has lapsed they are removed from your driving record. For example, if you get a failure to yield citation in January 2022, three points will be added to your record, and they will stay there until January 2025.
Completing a
driver improvement course
is the quickest way to have points removed from your driving history. You can find a list of traffic school courses on the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles branch website. The average course costs $25.
Keep in mind: driver improvement courses can only be taken once every 12 months and a maximum of five times in your life.
Another way to prevent points from getting put on your driving record is to have a skilled lawyer argue your case to either have the citation dismissed or reduced to a less serious violation. This can only be done if you haven’t paid the fine indicated on your ticket.
Paying the fine is essentially pleading guilty to the citation and the points cannot be kept off your record.
