How does Hyundai’s warranty work for a second owner?

I’m considering buying a used Hyundai, and the one I have my eye on is only four years old with a single previous owner. Will the car’s warranty transfer to me?

The answer to your question depends on whether the
Hyundai
you’re looking at is for sale from an independent owner or a certified Hyundai dealer.
If you’re buying from an independent seller: You won’t be able to take advantage of the car’s 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, but you will get the balance of the car’s other warranties.
If you choose to buy your car from a certified Hyundai dealer: The vehicle will be covered under the Hyundai Certified Used Vehicle warranty, which includes:
  • 5-year/60,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty
  • 10-year/100,000-mile certified used vehicles powertrain limited warranty
  • 10-year/unlimited-mile roadside assistance
  • 10-year/100,000-mile hybrid/EV battery warranty (if applicable)
Keep in mind: Whether you buy from an independent seller or a certified Hyundai dealer, you’re still getting one of the most reliable vehicles on the market. Used cars tend to be a little more expensive when it comes to maintenance and repairs, so don’t forget to include repair costs in your consideration.
