How do you open the gas tank on a Honda Ridgeline? Is there a release button, or can you just press on the door itself? I’m not having much luck with this!

Figuring out how to open the fuel door on a different vehicle can be surprisingly tricky! Here’s how to open the gas tank on a
Honda Ridgeline
:- Press the fuel door release button found on the lower portion of the driver’s side door.
- This should allow the fuel filler door to pop open.
- Since theHondaRidgeline uses a capless fuel filler, there’s no need to worry about unscrewing a cap—once the fuel door is open, you can just insert the fuel nozzle into the gas tank opening to start refueling.
A word of advice: the Ridgeline owner’s manual cautions that you’ll need to use a funnel to add gas to your tank from a gas can. You can find one in the spare tire tool kit found inside its “In-Bed Trunk.”
If your fuel door release button isn’t working, there’s also a manual release to open the fuel door. Here’s what you can do to access it:
- Open the rear door on the driver’s side of the vehicle
- Take out the physical key from the inside of your key fob
- Use the key to gently pry open a panel on the outer edge of the driver’s side rear door
- Here, you’ll find a white handle you can pull—this is the manual release for the fuel door
If your fuel door is still stuck shut after trying this, it’s possible that there could be a mechanical problem preventing it from opening. If that’s the case, you may want to get help from a mechanic to avoid causing unnecessary damage to the door.
