How do you open the gas tank on a 2015 Jeep Cherokee?
I am a new Jeep owner, and I need to fuel up for the first time. The problem is I can’t figure out how to open the gas tank. How does the 2015 Jeep Cherokee gas tank open?

To open the gas tank on a 2015
Jeep Cherokee
, look under the driver’s side door armrest for the fuel door release button. Give the button a push, and the fuel door should unlatch for you.If it still isn’t opening, you can use the emergency fuel door release strap located in the trim of the rear cargo area on the passenger side.
This information can be found in Section 5 of your Jeep Cherokee owner’s manual entitled Starting and Operating. Here you’ll find useful diagrams that show you exactly where to look for the fuel door release button and the emergency fuel door release.
Once you’ve got the fuel door open, remove the gas cap and start pumping your gas.
After you’re done refueling, be sure to tighten the gas cap properly. If the gas cap is too loose, the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) will appear in your instrument display when you start up your
Jeep
. If the MIL does not go out after you’ve re-tightened the gas cap, it may be an indication of a bigger problem, and you should contact your local Jeep dealership to have the issue looked at.View full answer
