How do you manually open the convertible top of a Saab 9-3?

I have a Saab 9-3 soft-top convertible and recently my automatic convertible top quit working. My car is stuck with the top closed and I don’t want to leave it like that. Is there a way to manually open the convertible top?

The
Saab 9-3
relies on a hydraulic system to open and close the convertible top and with anything mechanical, the system sometimes quits working. Don’t worry though, there’s a way to get your convertible top moving manually until you can get your car into a mechanic to fix it.
Here are the basic steps to follow to get your convertible top open or closed:
  • Look under the luggage compartment floor for the lug wrench, Allen key, and screwdriver
  • Remove the side trim inside the trunk
  • Press on the two wire catches (one on each side) to unlock your convertible top
Once your convertible top is unlocked, you can move it up or down.
