How do you get a traffic cone out from under your car?

I guess someone played a prank on me, because I backed over a cone placed at the bottom of my driveway this morning. I heard an awful noise, pulled over to check on it, and saw the cone. How do I get this thing out from under my car?

Running over a cone may sound silly, but you’d be surprised to learn it can do some serious damage to your car. You did the right thing by pulling over when you did—and maybe spared yourself a big
tow and repair bill
!
Here’s what you should do if you run over a cone and it gets stuck under your car:
  • Pull over as soon as it is safe to do so
  • Turn off your car
  • Look underneath the car’s carriage to locate the cone
  • Check to see if you can reach the cone. If not, you will need to get under your car
  • Gently wiggle the cone back and forth. Avoid jerking it as this could damage your car’s undercarriage
  • Keep wiggling the cone until it comes loose
  • Set the cone on the side of the road away from traffic
If you can’t get the cone out, you may need to call for
roadside assistance
to help you. Don’t have any roadside assistance included in your
car insurance
? Maybe it’s time to reevaluate your policy!
