How do you get a hardship license in Indiana?

Is there a way to get a hardship license so that I can drive my younger brother to school? Right now we both take the bus, but because we live out in the country it takes over an hour to get there, whereas it only takes 20 minutes if we drive!

That does sound really frustrating!
To get a hardship license in
Indiana
, you’ll need to complete
State Form 28622
, which is available on the DMV website. Send that form to the DMV and, if you’re approved, you’ll receive a hardship waiver in the mail that you can use to apply for your
Indiana driver's license
.
However, it’s unlikely that you’ll qualify unless you are either:
  • The primary breadwinner of the household and need to drive to work
  • Required to drive in order to provide medical care to a family member.
If you don’t meet either of these requirements, the best way to get your license as soon as possible is to take a driver’s ed course. This will allow you to get your license about six months earlier than the average driver, so you’ll be able to drive to school that much sooner.
