How do you fix an engine splash shield?

We had a really bad storm here last week, and I was caught in the middle of it driving home from work. I hit some debris that damaged the plastic splash shield under my engine. Is this something I can fix, and if so, how do you fix an engine splash shield?

How to fix engine splash shields can be done for little to no money, depending on what supplies you have around the house.
Your car’s engine splash shield plays two primary roles: protecting the engine compartment from water and road debris, and helping enhance the car’s aerodynamics, which affects handling, fuel economy, road noise, and more. So this isn’t a repair you want to put off!
You’ll want to lift the car on jack stands, then remove the damaged engine splash shield. If the splash shield is simply cracked and not missing material, it can be repaired. If it’s missing big chunks or the damage is otherwise extreme, you’ll want to buy a replacement.
Replacing an engine splash shield will run you anywhere from $20 to $300, depending on the make and model of your car. Most plastic engine splash shields sell for less than $100.
If the damage consists of cracks that can be gaplessly pieced back together, you could simply repair the engine splash shield with Gorilla Glue, or drill some carefully-spaced holes in the shield and use zip ties to pull the two halves together, clipping off the excess ties. Just be sure the two halves aren’t overlapping, or the splash shield won’t mount back onto the car properly.
