Air in your fuel injection system can definitely cause a big issue. To start, ensure the air isn’t coming from a leak in your fuel system. Once you’ve confirmed that there are no leaks, follow these steps for bleeding the air out of your Ford Ranger’s
fuel
line:
  • Locate the bleed screw on your fuel system. Check around the top of the fuel filters on the engine.
  • Loosen the bleed screw ½ way, or three to four turns. Just make sure not to pull it out all the way.
  • Find the fuel pump plunger and manually pump it to cause the aerated fuel to flow from the bleed screw. Keep a cup or rag handy to catch excess fuel that may spill over.
  • Stop pumping once pure, bubble-free fuel is flowing. Make sure to tighten the screw firmly to avoid a pressure leak that could cause air to enter the lines again!
