How do I start a Ford Taurus without a key?

The key fob for my 2015 Ford Taurus died, and I need to drive the car to my dealer for a replacement. How do you start a car without a key?

That sounds like a major headache!
Luckily, you can still operate the push-to-start button in your Taurus with the dead key fob. Just follow these steps:
  1. Remove the spare metal key from your fob to open the driver door manually. To do this, you will slide the tab on the back of your remote fob to the right and the key should pop out. Reassemble the key once the door is open.
  2. Open the center console inside your vehicle and locate the emergency key slot. The slot should be located toward the driver’s side of the center console and is covered by a small rubber flap.
  3. Insert the key fob into the emergency key slot and press the push-to-start button on your vehicle. The engine should start, allowing you to drive the vehicle as you normally would.
Now you can be on your way to the dealership to get that dead fob replaced!
