How do I reverse park for a driving test?

My driving test is coming up. For the most part, I feel confident. However, backing into a parking spot always seems to give me trouble. What are some tips for reverse parking?

Don’t worry—lots of drivers find backing into a parking space challenging!
To reverse park for a driving test, follow these steps:
  1. Find a parking spot that you want to back into.
  2. Pull up so that your rear bumper is perpendicular to the car next to the spot where you want to park. If there is no car there, use the painted line on the ground.
  3. Stop the car and put it in reverse with your foot on the brake.
  4. With your foot still on the brake, get ready to turn the steering wheel. If you’re parking to your right, turn the wheel halfway to the right. Do the opposite and turn the wheel halfway to the left if you’re parking on your left.
  5. Slowly release the brake to go in reverse.
  6. While reversing, always keep an eye on your rearview mirror, side mirrors, and blind spots (as necessary).
  7. Keep backing up until you see the car or painted line in your side mirror (left or right depending on which direction you’re going). Then, stop.
  8. Turn the wheel half a turn in the other direction and put the car in drive.
  9. Slowly move forward to straighten out your approach.
  10. Once you have a more straight-on approach, put your foot on the brake and put the car in reverse. Take care to look for other motorists and pedestrians, and check your mirrors again.
  11. Turn the wheel back in the other direction and slowly go backward.
  12. Straighten out the wheel as you go to fit precisely in the spot.
  13. Keep backing up until the front of your car is aligned with the front of the parking spot (or the front edge of the painted line).
Remember that practice makes perfect, so try to get behind the wheel a few times to perfect the art of the reverse park.
Hopefully, you pass the test! If you do, just make sure to get the right car insurance before you drive solo. If you’re not sure where to get your insurance or it’s your first time doing so, make sure to download the
