Realizing that your car has been stolen can leave you feeling overwhelmed. Just try and remember that it’s not the end of the world.
  • Call the police—They will have the best odds of locating your vehicle and you will need a copy of the police report before contacting your insurance company.
  • Call your insurance company—If you have coverage for car theft, your insurance company can begin filing the insurance claim.
  • Call your auto loan provider—If you took out a loan to purchase your vehicle, the loan provider will need to be notified of the theft. They can also walk you through the next steps.
While this will not guarantee that your car will be found and returned to you, it will give you the best chance possible while preparing for the future. You can also use this time to find a more affordable insurance plan with
additional coverages
that protect you from future car theft.
