You’re right! Other Ford Escape models had a fuel door release button on the driver’s side door, but that isn’t the case for the 2021 model.
To open the gas tank on a 2021 Ford Escape, simply press and release the center-rear edge of the fuel door, which is located on the driver’s side toward the rear of the vehicle. The fuel door should pop open.
There is no cap to unscrew—just insert the fuel nozzle into the tank and begin fueling. Ford employs the use of a capless fuel filler that automatically seals after you remove the fuel nozzle. This saves time at the pump and keeps your hands clean!
