How do I open the gas tank on a 2009 Subaru Forester?

I moved to a mountainous area, so I needed the handling and ability that only a Subaru can provide. However, I was on a budget, so I purchased a 2009 Forester. The only problem is that the previous owner didn’t have the owner’s manual, which leaves me in quite a predicament. I don’t know how to open the gas tank! How do I do it?

 certainly has some unmatched handling at a great price! However, accessing the
gas cap
 is perhaps a bit more confusing than it should be. To open the gas tank on a 2009 Subaru Forester, lift up on the gas tank lever located on the driver’s side floorboard.
This lever is right near the edge of the carpeted area and the door jamb, although you can lift it without opening the door. If you’re still confused, the lever will have a small gas pump icon on it, and it’s also the only lever located in this area of the vehicle.
