How do I open a Tesla key fob?

My Tesla Model Y sent me an alert that I need to replace the battery in the key fob. I think I can do it by myself without taking it to a Tesla store. How do you open a Tesla key fob?

The batteries in key fobs generally last for years, but they do need to be replaced eventually. Here is how you can open the key fob to your
Tesla
:
  • On a soft surface, lay the fob face down
  • Gently press either a coin or flat-head screwdriver to the edge of the cover
Tesla usually recommends making an appointment at one of their service centers if you need assistance, but their DIY guide includes opening the fob and changing the battery.
