You can apply a water-resistant lubricant around the outside edges of the window frame to keep your car windows from freezing shut in cold weather.
Try one of the following:
  • Apply a silicone spray in an even coating.
  • Use a cloth to apply a rubber car solution like Gummi Pfledge around the edges.
You can use these methods for frameless windows as well.
Applying a sparing amount of lubrication to your windows will prevent the rubber and any moisture within it from freezing to your windows. If your car windows are already shut, perform the following steps first:
  • Step 1: Give your car some time to warm up.
  • Step 2: Use an ice scraper to gently remove ice from your window edges.
  • Step 3: Apply a de-icing mixture around the window edges to thaw any remaining ice.
You can buy a de-icing solution at your local auto parts store or use household items like rubbing alcohol, hand sanitizer, or two parts vinegar mixed with one part water.
