How do I fix my car’s amplifier power supply?

The audio in my car no longer works, and I’m pretty sure it’s because the amplifier’s power supply has blown. Is this a repair I can do myself? How would I go about fixing the amplifier power supply?

While it is possible to fix your car amplifier’s power supply—or power supply transistors—yourself, it’s not something that’s recommended for people who don’t have extensive experience repairing electronics.
Your best bet is to have the amplifier looked at by a professional technician. They will check to make sure the power supply is what’s actually at fault and not the speakers themselves, as broken speakers can also result in a lack of sound.
The wiring for your amp is complicated stuff, and if you don’t know what you’re doing you can make the issue worse or hurt yourself in the process, which isn’t something we want.
Having a technician fix your amplifier power supply might cost more than if you did it yourself, but you’ll know it was repaired properly.
