How do I change car insurance ownership online?
I’m planning to give my current car away to my daughter once she graduates high school and get myself a new car. To be perfectly honest, I don’t know much about car insurance; is there any way I can transfer the insurance policy to her, or add her to the policy? How can I change car insurance ownership online?

Good question, and that’s incredibly generous of you! While you can’t transfer the insurance policy to your daughter, I’m happy to say that you can add her to your policy easily!
If you want to
add a driver
, you can do this online, in your insurance company’s app, or over the phone. It’s a pretty straightforward process no matter how you choose to do it, but make sure you have some information about your daughter before you get started. This includes her:- Birthdate, driver’s license, and social security numbers
- Driving history over the past three years, including any accidents or tickets
- Vehicle information (if you will not be sharing a vehicle already listed on the policy)
Keep in mind that adding a driver to your insurance policy can increase your premium, depending on their age and driving history, among other factors.
