My dad has had an old Chevy sitting in the driveway for a few years. The thing is totally rusted junk and we think it’s time to get rid of it. How do you get a junk car towed away?

“Getting rid of a junk car is a great way to clear up your property and recycle the unused metal to help the environment!
To get a junk car towed, contact a local junkyard. They will ask for details about the vehicle, such as:
- The make, model, and year
- Whether it runs
- Which parts are in good condition
- If the vehicle is rusted
- Whether the car is fully intact (some pay more if the car is partially dismantled)
Ask what documentation is required for the junkyard to take the car, and then gather the necessary paperwork. You will definitely need:
- The car’s title: If you are not the legal owner, you will need official notarized permission before the vehicle can be junked.
Alternatively, if you don’t care about making a profit from the junk vehicle, you can check if your municipality offers free junk towing. Typically, they do. So if you just want the car gone, this might be the best option.
Once you set up the tow, be sure to remove the car’s license plates and take them to your motor vehicle department to complete any necessary paperwork.
