How can I add my spouse to my car insurance policy?
How do I add my husband to my car insurance policy? We married about six months ago, and I just learned that I need to add him to my policy. He has his own car and insurance, so I wasn't aware I needed to make any changes. Will this impact my policy in any way?

“Don’t worry, adding a spouse to a policy is simple and you might save some money on your policy! Here is the information to have handy for the update:
- Your husband’s name and date of birth
- His driver’s license number and state
- Past driving history
- VIN of any cars he would like to add (optional)
- List of coverages that his cars require (optional)
These changes can be done over the phone or online. Then, when your husband is listed, he will have full rights to the policy just like you. This means he can change payment methods, make updates, and cancel the policy.
If you want to add your husband as an active driver along with his vehicles, all cars on the policy will receive a multi-car discount. If your husband wants to retain his current policy, he will still be listed as named insured but categorized as a non-driver or as having other insurance.
Before you make any changes to your policy, check his policy to see what his driving record is like and if he is receiving any surcharges. If he has a less than desirable driving history, this could be when you don’t want him added as an active driver.
If this is the case, you will want to advise your insurance carrier that he has his policy and vehicles and you would like him listed as a non-driver. However, some companies will require you to list him as an
