offers an extended warranty that lasts 6 years or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first. Volvo owners have a choice of three levels of coverage for extended warranty: VIP Platinum, VIP Gold, and VIP PowertrainHere’s what’s included in each level of Volvo’s extended warranty:
- Platinum—This warranty offers comprehensive bumper-to-bumper maintenance with a short list of exceptions like brake drums and rotors, glass, airbags, and more.
- VIP Gold—The Gold warranty covers the most important components of your Volvo, including engine, transmission, brakes, steering, and suspension.
- VIP Powertrain—This warranty only covers maintenance for the powertrain—ie. the engine, drive axle, and transmission.
Volvo recently placed third-last in
JD Power’s Dependability Study
, and according to RepairPal
, Volvos cost an average of $769 a year to maintain—higher than the average of $652. Considering that Volvos are more likely to break down and the cost of repair is higher than average, getting that extended warranty seems like it would be a smart way to save money.
