Does it matter whose name is first on a car loan?

My wife and I are going to get a car loan for a new ride. However, I’m not sure if I should get my name first on the car loan or my wife’s name. Whose name should I get first on the car loan contract?

It doesn’t matter whose name should come first on a
car loan
; it’s merely a formality.
The only thing that truly matters is that both you and your wife can successfully
apply for the loan
. This means that each individual should have:
  • A good credit score
  • Low debt-to-income ratio
  • Enough income to support monthly payments
Your lender will be honest with you about your chances for loan approval and they may inform you that either one of you applying or both of you applying improves your approval chances or interest rate.
