Does a Toyota warranty cover brakes?

My brakes have been squeaking lately and I guess I’d better head to a mechanic. I’m a little strapped for cash at the moment and would rather not deal with a costly repair…is this something my warranty will cover?

Going to the mechanic is never fun, and often a recipe for stress! The Toyota warranty is generous and covers a lot of components in your car, but unfortunately, your Toyota warranty does not cover brakes. In fact, it doesn’t cover any parts that wear out due to use.
Your warranty is meant to cover the unexpected breakdown of equipment that isn’t designed to wear out with frequent use, like a carburetor or your air conditioning system. Once your warranty expires, you can elect to get
mechanical breakdown insurance
as part of your
Toyota car insurance
policy. This type of coverage means some repairs will be paid for by your insurance instead of out of pocket.
