Can you ride with the tow truck driver?
My car won’t start and I need to call a tow truck to get it to my mechanic’s shop. Can you ride with the tow truck driver to the shop?

We’re sorry to hear about your car trouble! Tow truck etiquette can be confusing, especially if you’ve never needed to call a truck before.
Tow trucks are not required by law to give you a ride, but you may be able to ride with the tow truck driver to the shop.
In your situation, the best thing to do is to call ahead to your tow truck company to ask if they offer this service. Generally, these rides are complimentary at no further cost to you.
