Can you negotiate the price of car repairs?

Are car repair prices negotiable? I know that car repairs can get super expensive, but I don't want to pay more than I have to.

“Yes, you can definitely negotiation the price of car repairs, but how you do it varies on where you take the car.
Independent shops are far easier to negotiate with because they don’t have prices set by a corporate office or a service manager. Getting a fair price also requires you to know how much repairs are and what you should expect to pay. In this case, knowledge is one of the best bargaining tools.
If you take your car to a chain or the dealership, your wiggle room drops quite a bit. However, you may be able to negotiate free maintenance that needs to be done on top of your repairs. This means that you can probably add an oil change, tuneup, or tire rotation for free or a discounted price.
Remember that asking is half the battle. Just as you shop around for
