Can you flat tow a Jeep Liberty?

Congratulations on the new RV! Yes, you can flat tow a Jeep Liberty regardless of its model year, unless it specifically states otherwise in your owner’s manual. However, the manner in which your Liberty can be flat towed depends on its model.
Before flat towing, you’ll need a few basic components to tow a Jeep Liberty, including base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, wiring, and a supplemental braking system. These items can usually be purchased as an aftermarket flat towing kit from a trusted online retailer.
The primary difference that will affect how you can safely flat-tow your Jeep Liberty is whether it is two-wheel drive (2WD) or four-wheel drive (4WD):
- For 2WD Liberties, you must either remove the driveshaft or install a driveshaft override before flat towing.
- For 4WD Liberties, the vehicle’s transfer case must be put in neutral, and the transmission must be placed in park before flat towing.
