As is the case for all Teslas, you can upgrade your Tesla Model Y’s battery pack by purchasing a larger battery to extend the car’s range. However, this will likely cost you well over $10,000.
A more fiscally responsible option is likely to trade in your older Model Y for the newest version, especially if the newer battery is better than the one you already have.
And you’re in luck! Tesla is preparing to offer a new

trim for 2023 with a Standard Range All-Wheel Drive configuration and 4680 batteries that just landed approval from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
4680 battery cells have five times more energy and six times the power of the smaller 2170. Unveiled in 2020 at Tesla’s annual Battery Day event, these particular Tesla batteries are more powerful alternatives to earlier Tesla batteries.
The 2022 Model Y’s Performance trim has an impressive range of 303 miles, while the Long Range AWD trim bumps that up to 330 in exchange for lower maximum speed and slightly slower acceleration.
