Keeping renters insurance at your new place is a good idea! If you want to transfer your renters insurance to your new apartment, you’ll need to change the address on your policy.
That said, while you can transfer your renters insurance to different addresses, you can’t transfer your renters insurance to another person. If someone moves into your apartment after you and wants to keep your renters insurance policy, they’d have to apply for a policy themselves.
