Can a front end collision cause engine damage?

I just had a minor car accident and the front of my car is a bit banged up. How serious could this be? Can a front end collision cause engine damage?

Oh no! So sorry to hear about your accident. Yes, front end collisions may cause engine damage if the impact was severe enough.
While it depends on your specific model, most vehicles have a ton of important parts located in the front end. As a result, front end collisions can be seriously damaging to your vehicle.
Here are a few of the parts that could be damaged if your car was in a front end collision:
  • Bumper
  • Lights
  • Hood
  • Body
  • Frame
  • Steering system
  • Engine
  • Transmission
Some of these parts are more affordable than others to repair. Unfortunately, engine and transmission repairs are extremely costly. A new engine may cost around $4,000.
The best course of action is to bring your car to a repair shop and
get a quote for car body repair
. The skilled technicians can assess whether your engine has been impacted or whether you simply need some dent removal and
paint touch-ups
.
Remember that your insurance policy may cover some of these repair costs.
