Are the police allowed to talk on the phone while driving?

I saw a cop talking on the phone while he was driving. I thought it was illegal to do that! Is it legal for the police to talk on the phone while driving?

Yes,
the police
are allowed to talk on the phone while driving as long as the call is work-related. Typically, the police are exempt from distracted driving laws because they need to be able to communicate while behind the wheel.
However, they are not allowed to take personal calls while driving, just like everyone else. If you see a police officer abusing this right, don’t hesitate to report them for their behavior. Distracted driving is dangerous no matter who’s doing it.
While you’re learning more about distracted driving laws, why not learn more about your car insurance options too?
