Are electric cars more dangerous?

I’m thinking about replacing my current car with an electric one, but I’m looking for a car that will also be safe enough for my teenage kids to drive. Are electric cars more dangerous?

While all cars come with some safety concerns that should be taken seriously, there are some cars that are going to be
worse for teenage drivers
in particular.
When it comes to gas vs. electric, however, there’s no reason why an
electric car
would be any less safe than a gas-powered car. A few features that make electric cars safe to drive are:
  • The battery of an electric car is located low in the vehicle, giving it a lower center of gravity and making it less likely to roll or flip in an accident.
  • Gasoline is highly flammable, and fully-electric cars use zero gas.
  • In the event of a crash, the power supply from the high-voltage battery is switched off as soon as the airbags are activated.
