Data shows that the 2021 Toyota RA4V was the fastest-selling new car for June. The car took an average of just 9.5 days to sell, according to motor1.com. The SUV took the top spot from the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, which was the fastest-selling car in May.
The U.S. new-car market is managing as best as it can despite the chip shortage that is affecting car inventory and prices. First-quarter sales of the 2021 Toyota RAV4 are up almost 20% compared to last year, according to Forbes.
Toyota RAV4 and other top-selling cars
According to iSeeCars.com, the fastest-selling new car list for June has a mix of two extremes—large gas guzzlers and hybrids. Sporty and hybrid vehicles dominate the fastest-selling used car list. iSeeCars.com reviewed more than one million new and used car sales (model years 2016-2020 for used cars) from June 2021 to create the lists.
Following the Toyota RAV4 on the fastest-selling new cars list for June are the Kia Telluride, Toyota Tacoma, Cadillac Escalade, and the Toyota RAV4. There are a few more Toyotas in the top 20.
The top 20 fastest-selling new cars sell 2.6 to 4.8 times faster than the average new vehicle, and average 12.3 days on dealer lots. The June list mostly consists of SUVs.
The fastest-selling used car for June was the Tesla Model 3. The Tesla Model S and Model X also made the list.
The Toyota RAV4 continues to be popular
All three styles of the Toyota RAV4 crossover made the list of the fastest-selling cars for June. This includes the RAV4 Hybrid and plug-in RAV4 Prime.
It shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that the Toyota RA4V topped June’s list. At least one trim of the vehicle has been on the iSeeCars.com list for months. In June, Toyota delivered more than 36,000 RAV4s, with the Hybrid and Prime trims accounting for a third of those total sales.
More Toyota RAV4 features
The 2021 Toyota RAV4 has high marks for safety, which may be another reason it’s appealing to prospective buyers. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the RAV4 a five-star rating, and it was named a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
Among its safety features are standard driver assists, automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. On the base model, you can add blind-spot monitoring and rear-cross traffic alert.
According to Car and Driver, the Toyota RAV4 also earned class-competitive fuel-economy estimates from the EPA.
Even though the 2021 Toyota RAV4 remains popular with consumers, it didn’t get the highest scores from Consumer Reports. But that hasn’t seemed to hinder its popularity.
