If you’re looking for car-centric movies to watch this fall, look no further than Red Notice, a heist movie starring the all-electric Porche Taycan—alongside actors Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds. Directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, who has previously worked with Dwayne Johnson on Skyscraper, this movie will be released on Netflix on November 12.
The Porsche Taycan, an
electric
sports car, is no stranger to the screen, and has starred in video games such as "Gran Turismo Sport" and "DiRT 5." That being said, Red Notice will be the car’s big break into major motion pictures.

This Netflix film boasts plenty of Porsche action

The trailer for Red Notice reveals that the movie will be jam-packed with high-action driving scenes. According to
CarBuzz
, Dwayne Johnson said that the Porche Taycan will be prominently featured in a "big chase sequence" in the movie.
This movie is sure to deliver a thrill to even the biggest of action buffs. Filmed on a $200 million budget, Red Notice is the most expensive Netflix movie ever made.
The trailer teases some other car chases, including a short of the Italian police, who are driving Giulia
cop cars
, chasing an Alfa Romeo Giulia. In another chase scene, Dwayne Johnson and his co-star Ryan Reynolds can be seen blowing up a pile of Jeeps.
Red Notice is sure to entertain—what could be better than secret agents, art world elites, and gritty high-action car chases, all rolled into one movie?
What we know about the plot so far is that Dwayne Johnson plays John Hartley, an FBI agent, who begrudgingly joins forces with Ryan Reynolds, an art thief named Nolan Booth. Together, they attempt to catch "The Bishop," who is played by Gal Gadot, a wanted art thief who has been put on "red notice."

Netflix runs into trouble in Porsche Paradise

Not everything about filming this blockbuster went smoothly, however. According to
CarBuzz
, Dwayne Johnson was too big to fit into the Porsche Taycan, as the actor confirmed on social media.
In a 2020 Instagram post, Dwayne Johnson wrote about his on-set realization that he wouldn’t be able to fit into the electric vehicle. "DJ attempts to get into the car only to get stuck because his back is a bit too wide," the actor wrote of himself in the post.
The wrestler-turned-actor was good-humoured about the incident, however. "Aaaand guess who’s too big to fit in yet another sports car and now we have to change the entire shot sequence around," he wrote.

Porsche reports overwhelming demand for all-electric Taycan

Between a new Netflix film and spiking demand, Porsche is having a good year. The automaker reported that despite their best efforts, they aren’t able to keep up with the "huge" demand for the Porsche Taycan. Demand has far exceeded their expectations and overwhelmed production capacity.
According to
Inside EVs
, Porsche CEO Oliver Blume said, "Our original production capacity for the Taycan was 20,000 units this year—we’ve sold that many in the first half of the year." If sales keep up at this pace, Porsche could sell at least 40,000 units in 2021 alone.
The success of the Porsche Taycan is great news for the electric vehicle industry, and by the end of the decade, Porsche could be making most of their sales in the electric sector. This good news comes ahead of the 2023 release of another Porsche EV, the all-electric Porsche Macan.
Fans of Red Notice may be disappointed to learn that they can’t go out and purchase their new favorite EV. Porsche reported that there is currently a waiting time of about six months for the in-demand model—great news for the company, but bad news for Porsche Taycan die-hards.
