Drake's Car Collection Does Not Disappoint

Many celebrities are known for their car collections, and rappers make a large portion of that group. The expensive hobby is almost obligatory for anyone wanting to be taken seriously in the music genre.
As one of the biggest names in hip hop right now, Aubrey “Drake” Graham has lived up to, and exceeded, rap-superstar expectations with his collection.
From sentimental, reliable Japanese sedans to million-dollar supercars, the contents of the Canadian rapper’s garage would impress any car enthusiast.
Drake has enough money to buy just about any car he wants.

Highlights from Drake’s car collection

Most of the automakers we associate with rap are from the luxury segment and beyond—Bentley, Bugatti, Mercedes-Benz, Maserati. Acura does not generally enter the picture. But that’s where Drake’s car collection starts.
The Toronto-born artist was first known in his home country as the Wheelchair-bound Jimmy Brooks in the afterschool teen drama Degrassi: The Next Generation.
GQ
says that when Drizzy landed the role, he traded in his Chevy Malibu for an Acura TSX, which he apparently still owns.
As his music career took off though, Drake acquired a much flashier taste in cars. In 2010, the same year his first album dropped, the “Champagne Papi” (as he is now called) dropped over $2 million for a
Bugatti
Veyron.
He also owns the Bentley Continental GTC from his video for “Started from the Bottom,” and other supercars from Bentley, Mercedes, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce. He and fellow rapper Travis Scott own two of the 499 Ferrari LaFerraris in existence. The car is worth over $3 million.

Other rappers with expensive taste in cars

Drake’s cars price out most drivers, but in the world of rap, these numbers are the norm.
Among many other impressive rides, hip hop’s only billionaire Jay-Z owns a Maybach Exelero worth $8 million.
HotCars
says Wyclef Jean’s McLaren F1 is likely worth over $12 million. Soulja Boy’s whole collection is supposedly worth $41 million.
Classic cars are also popular among rappers. Snoop Dogg, for example, has a thing for rides made by Buick, Cadillac, and Pontiac in the ‘60s and ‘70s. Funkmaster Flex, Lupe Fiasco, and T-Pain also own a good selection of oldies.
But the most committed collector in all of music might be Rick Ross, who said in an interview with
Today
that he owns over 100 cars. Ironically, the 45-year-old admitted in the conversation that he had only just gotten a driver’s license.

Drake likely spends a lot on car insurance

MORE: Buying Car Insurance Isn't as Easy for Some Celebrities
Car insurance
for Maybachs and Bentleys is obviously expensive, but Drake’s Bugatti takes the cake for the most expensive car to own in his collection. Coverage costs an average of over $50,000 a year. But this isn’t your average liability insurance.
Companies like Hagerty, Grundy, and American Collectors offer coverage for these types of vehicles by agreeing with the owner on a set value for the car in question. It’s called collector car insurance.
Besides providing coverage in the case of an accident, collector car insurance also takes restorations and modifications made to the car into account—something traditional insurers don’t normally do.
