The history of Mini

The Cooper family and engineer Alec Issigonis joined forces to create today’s Mini Cooper in 1961.
Before that, John Cooper and his father established the Cooper Car Company in 1948, while Issigonis began developing the first Mini in 1957.
Issigonis finished and released the Mini in 1959. It was an extremely innovative venture, as the concept of the Mini hadn’t existed before. The mid-engine design with wide wheel placement made the car extremely agile despite its size, which is what caught

The Anniversary Edition will be paying homage to the Cooper family and the car’s racing history.
There will be three trim options available, including Cooper, Cooper S, and John Cooper Works. The lower trim levels come standard with a classic British Racing Green paint or an optional Midnight Black color. Only the highest trim level will be finished in Rebel Green.
All paint finishes will also have an assortment of white accents. White stripes with red edges will be featured on the hood, accompanied by a white roof and mirror caps.
The Cooper name will be used on the car in a variety of ways. The Cooper Car Company logo will be added on the treadplate, under the C-pillars, and on the front fenders. The Mini Cooper’s first racing number, 74, will be painted faintly onto the hood with a ghost effect.
On the interior, each car will have the signatures of several Cooper family members etched into the dashboard and a standard infotainment system equipped with navigation capabilities. The John Cooper Works trim will have leather seats with suede accents.
This limited-edition car will be a three-door, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. It has 235 lb-ft of torque and 228 horsepower and is capable of reaching 60 mph in approximately 5.9 seconds.
