The 2023 Toyota 86 should probably be a two-seater, but if you look really close, you can see there are two rear passenger seats.
Following a two-year hiatus, Toyota returned the 86 to its lineup, fully redesigned and renamed the GR86. Most of this redesign took place under the hood in the form of a more powerful engine. While the interior did receive some mild restyling, it did nothing to increase the torturously-tight quarters reserved for rear seat passengers.

The Toyota 86 shares most of its interior styling with its mechanical twin: the

. Compact dimensions mean the passenger cabin is a bit snug, but front passengers will have plenty of room. A small steering wheel also makes entry and exit easy for taller drivers. That said, the low ride height will prevent all but the shortest passengers from making anything like a graceful entry or exit.

Cargo space
As it turns out, the 86’s rear seats are actually good for something—getting out of the way.
With the rear seats in place, the GR86 has only six cubic feet of cargo space. But, fold the rear seats down, and Toyota says you’ll have room to transport a full set of the 86’s replacement wheels and tires.
