The easiest way to remote start your
Hyundai Palisade
is with your key fob. But you’ll need to have the Blue Link service activated.
You’ll get a three-year Blue Link subscription for free if you bought a new Palisade that came standard with remote start. After that, it’s $99 a year.
With Blue Link activated, simply press the lock button, and then press the remote start button within 3 seconds. It’s that easy!
There are other ways to engage your Palisade’s remote start, too. To learn the ropes—including when you should and shouldn’t use remote start—read on.

How to remote start your Hyundai Palisade

Note that, unfortunately, there is no way to engage the Hyundai Palisade remote start without Blue Link access.
With that in mind, follow these easy steps to remote start your Hyundai Palisade:
First, make sure your Palisade is in a well-ventilated area and is within your range of vision. This will keep you and your car safe.

Starting the Palisade with the key fob

  • Press the lock button on your
    key fob
    .
  • Press the remote start button within 3 seconds.
  • Hyundai will perform a system check, and if it is safe to remote start your car, it will start within 5 seconds and run for up to 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, your Palisade will shut off. The engine will also turn off if the brake pedal is engaged before the ignition is used, the hood or tailgate door is opened, or the vehicle’s security system is triggered.
  • Open the Blue Link app on your mobile device.
  • Select the remote start icon, and set how long (up to 15 minutes) you want your car to run.
  • Tap the selector button for climate control if you’d like to adjust climate settings. Set the temperature to your preference.
  • Tap the defroster selector if you need it turned on.
  • Enter your Blue Link PIN.
  • After a short time, you will receive a confirmation message that the vehicle is starting.
When you’re using Blue Link for remote start, your car must have been started with the ignition within the last four days—otherwise, Blue Link remote start will not work. The car also has to be in park with all doors shut and locked and the trunk and hoodclosed.
Once you’re ready to drive, you’ll need to take your proximity key with you into the cabin of the vehicle before attempting to press the brake or move the gear shift. The car will not engage if you don’t have the proximity key.
Pro Tip If you choose climate control settings when you remote start your Palisade, it will only run for 10 minutes instead of 15 minutes. The parking lights will blink until the engine is shut off or the car is operated.

Turning off the engine

You can turn your engine off with your Hyundai remote start key fob by pressing and holding the start button for 2 seconds.

Hyundai Palisade remote start tips and tricks

When you’re ready to start using your Hyundai Palisade remote start features, keep these tips in mind:
  • If you’re not sure if you’re in close enough range to use your remote start, try locking your car with the key fob.If you can see the headlights flash, you’re close enough to use remote start.
  • There are several preconditions for your Palisade remote start feature to work. The car needs to be off and locked with the key fob, the gearshift needs to be inpark, all the doors must be locked, and the tailgate and hood need to be closed. The car’s battery needs to have sufficient power, and you will have to be in an area with good cell reception.
  • If the proximity key is inside the vehicle, the brake pedal is pushed, or the car has not been started by its ignition for more than four days, remote start will not work
Key Takeaway Make sure your Palisade is locked, closed up, and in a well-ventilated area that you can see before attempting to use remote start.

FAQs

Hyundai Blue Link is the connected vehicle system that allows drivers to start, stop, lock, and unlock their eligible Hyundais remotely. Not all Hyundai models are equipped with remote start. If you buy a new Hyundai that does offer remote start, you’ll get three free years of Blue Link service included, but after that, you have to buy a paid subscription to continue using the remote features. That said, you don’t need Blue Link. But you may enjoy using its services.
The proximity key is a security feature that keeps your car safe from

. The car won’t engage or move without. Also, as a bonus, you can keep the key in your pocket or purse, and you won’t have to fish it out every time you want to drive. As long as it’s with you inside the vehicle, you’re good to go.
