When it debuted, the 2007 Honda Odyssey had the strongest engine of any of its minivan competitors — a 244-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 that gets an EPA city/hwy/comb fuel efficiency rating of 17/24/19 mpg.

How to check your 2007 Odyssey’s gas tank size

Do you have some reservations on taking Jerry’s word for it when it comes to your Odyssey’s gas tank size? We’re a little bit hurt, but we won’t let it get to us. In the meantime, check out these tips to check your vehicle’s fuel capacity for yourself!

Measure the gas tank

The first thing you can do is make like Pythagoras and use a little bit of math to find your gas tank’s fuel capacity.
First, measure the length, width, and height of your car’s gas tank using a measuring tape, then multiply those numbers together. If you were measuring in inches, you’ll end up with a result in cubic inches, but we’re looking for gallons. There are 231 cubic inches in a gallon, so all you have to do to get the volume in gallons is divide the result of that last equation by231. Here’s what that looks like written out:
  • W x L x H = V
  • V(cu in)(1 gal/231 cu in) = V(gal)
Naturally, the downside of this method is having to physically measure something and then use math — sounds like a lot of work.

Check your owner’s manual

You know what’s not a lot of work? Reading your owner’s manual. If you’ve still got that dusty tome lying around, crack it open and be amazed by all the answers to be found within, including the specs about your engine’s fuel capacity!

Drive till empty, then fill it up

If you want to find out approximately how big your 2007 Honda Odyssey’s gas tank is the galaxy-brain way, all you have to do is drive it until it’s empty, fill your tank all the way up, and note how much gas it took to fill. All done! Easy! You didn’t have to do any measuring, and all you had to read were the numbers on the gas pump. Nice.

How to save on fuel costs in a 2007 Honda Odyssey

Unfortunately, the V-6 engine on the 2007 Odyssey is a bit out of date, especially when it comes to fuel economy. But that doesn’t mean you can’t optimize savings on fuel costs! Here are some ways to save money on fuel no matter what you drive.
  • Keep up with maintenance. If you follow the regular maintenance schedule in your owner’s manual, you’ll keep your vehicle good as new for much longer, ensuring better fuel efficiency.
  • Drive carefully. Driving less aggressively really can make for good savings on fuel. Remember: the more you push down on the gas pedal, the more gas you’re feeding into the engine!
  • Avoid idling. This may seem obvious, but you’ll waste gas if you leave your engine on while you’re stopped. Try driving your car gently for a few minutes instead of letting it idle on a cold morning.

How to optimize your 2007 Odyssey’s insurance coverage

You may not necessarily be achieving great savings on your Odyssey’s fuel costs, but driving an older van means you’re probably already reaping great benefits from
