background
The recommended tire pressure for a Dodge Charger can generally range from 32 to 35 pounds per square inch (PSI) for both front and rear tires.
Properly inflated tires help you maintain better control over your vehicle and boost its efficiency. On the other hand, when your tires are under or over-inflated, you risk wearing out your tires faster, reducing your gas mileage, or increasing the odds that your tires might burst—each of which will come at a cost.
To help you get a handle on maintaining your Dodge Charger’s optimal tire pressure,

What is the right tire pressure for a Dodge Charger?

The ideal tire pressure for a Dodge Charger will depend on its model year, the vehicle load weight, and what kind of tires it’s using.
The required tire pressure for a Dodge Charger can generally fall between 32 and 35 psi.
To check your own Dodge Charger’s tire pressure specifications, you can leaf through your owner’s manual or check the label inside your driver’s side door jamb.
Also, keep in mind that your vehicle may have different tire pressure requirements for front and rear tires.
Additionally, if you’re using tires other than the ones that came standard with your vehicle, whether it’s winter tires, high-performance tires, or all-season aftermarket tires, you’ll need to check the tire pressure requirements for those particular tires.
For additional tire pressure recommendations under varying conditions, you can refer to your owner’s manual.

How to check Dodge Charger tire pressure

It’s easy enough to check the pressure levels for each tire on your Charger’s dashboard display. However, it’s always a good idea to periodically check your vehicle’s tire pressure with a
tire pressure gauge
to confirm it’s at the right level—especially if you drive a 2022 Dodge Charger.
That’s because a
recall
was issued this year due to potentially faulty TPMS sensors that could prevent drivers from receiving alerts when a tire’s pressure gets too low. Dodge reportedly notified affected drivers, but you can check your VIN for a recall status and get more information on the
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website
.
If you don’t have your own tire pressure gauge, many gas stations that offer air-filing services have them available for use. Essentially, all you need to do is remove the valve stem cap on the tire you want to check, then press the gauge down onto the valve stem to get your reading.
Once you have it, you can add or release air from your tire as needed.

How often should you check tire pressure?

Ideally, you’ll want to check your tire pressure monthly, as well in the following situations:
  • Ahead of long road trips
  • When your vehicle load is significantly altered
  • When driving conditions change

How to tell if your Dodge Charger needs new tires

It’s generally recommended that you replace a vehicle’s tires at least every six years.
That said, when you should actually do so depends on the quality of your current tires, how often you drive, and what kinds of conditions your tires have been subjected to.
If your Dodge Charger is ready for a tire replacement in the near future, here are some things you might notice:
  • Low tire tread (especially if it’s below 4 mm)
  • Increased difficulty with steering and/or handling
  • Less traction
  • Reduced fuel economy
  • Cracks, punctures, or bulges

How to reset the Dodge Charger tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) light

Your TPMS light can be the first warning sign to alert you that it’s time to adjust your tire pressure, but if it remains on even after you’ve filled your tires to the proper level, you might need to reset it.
Typically, on a more recent Dodge vehicle, the TPMS light should reset on its own after driving at or around highway speeds for about 10 minutes.
Suppose you need to manually reset your TPMS light. In that case, you can usually do so by turning your vehicle off, moving your key to the “on” position (without starting the engine), and then pressing and holding your TPMS reset button for a few seconds. The TPMS light will flash a few times on the instrument cluster and then disappear.
The next time you drive your vehicle, the TPMS sensors should recalibrate themselves after about 20 minutes of driving.
If your TPMS light is still on, or is flashing without turning off, it might indicate there’s a problem with your sensor or another component. When that’s the case, you may want to have a certified mechanic help you get to the root of the issue.
