2007 Honda Fit engine oil capacity
Both the base and Sport trim levels of the 2007 Honda Fit have the same 1.5-liter engine, which has an oil capacity of 3.8 quarts. The Fit was in production from 2007 to 2020 and never strayed from this engine size.
Despite having the same engine size during its impressive production run, not all model years of Honda Fit take the same exact oil

What kind of oil does a 2007 Honda Fit need?

The recommended oil for a 2007 Honda Fit is
5W-20 Genuine Honda Motor Oil
. Models 2011 and should use
0W-20 Genuine Honda Motor Oil
Wondering what all these oil code words mean? Let’s review them together.
  • SAE stands for the Society of Automotive Engineers. This group is tasked with making sure that the measurement and description of an oil’s viscosity code (aka how thick the engine oil is) means the same thing worldwide
  • The number that follows tells us where the oil is on the viscosity scale. “0W” and “5W” are the thinnest oils. The “W” means “winter.”
  • 20” and “30” represent the oil’s viscosity at 212°F. Lower numbers indicate that the oil will retain its thinness in hot temperatures as well as cold
Genuine Honda oils are all fully synthetic—meaning that they run better and last longer than conventional oils and synthetic blends.

How often to change the oil on a 2007 Honda Fit

If you use Genuine Honda oil, you can go longer between oil changes, as it is a full-synthetic oil that can last 7,500 miles or more
That being said, you should still be checking your oil monthly though. If the oil looks chocolate brown or has a gritty texture (or both), it’s a sign to change the oil.
Don’t ignore further signs that the engine needs maintenance. Dirty engine oil becomes filthy when it isn’t changed timely, resulting in a black sludge developing inside your engine—which can cause avoidable damage.
Performance-related issues may also arise if the oil needs to be changed. If you notice that your engine is lagging or jumpy—don’t ignore it. The same goes for clunking sounds or smells, like burning oil or smoke, coming from underneath the hood—these are major signs that your engine oil needs some attention.

How to change your oil and oil filter

It’s not too difficult to change the oil of a 2007 Honda Fit on your own, but before you do, you’ll want to make sure you’ve got all the equipment ready to get the job done right.
Here’s what you’ll need:
  • Car jack and jack stands or ramps
  • 3.8 quarts of 5W-20 synthetic engine oil
  • 17mm socket wrench
  • Oil filter wrench
  • Gloves and eye protection
  • Funnel
  • Oil drain pan
  • Shop towels
Once you’ve got your supplies gathered, follow these steps to change the oil on your 2007 Honda Fit:
  • Park your Fit on a level surface and engage your emergency brake before raising it up with your jack and securing it on jack stands or ramps.
  • Loosen the oil drain plug with your socket wrench, then manually remove it to allow the oil to drain out. Make sure your oil drain pan is positioned underneath to catch the oil.
  • While the oil drains, replace the old crush washer on the oil drain bolt with the new one. Then, manually tighten the oil drain plug back in place and carefully tighten it with your socket wrench—make sure you don’t strip the bolt threads!
  • Use your oil filter wrench to loosen the oil filter and remove it. Place the oil drain pan below to catch the spilling oil.
  • Coat the new oil filter with clean oil before installing it. Check to ensure that the O-ring from the old oil filter isn’t stuck to the oil filter housing on the vehicle.
  • Manually tighten the new oil filter in place.
  • With your funnel, fill the engine with 3.8 quarts of fresh oil.
Allow your Fit to run for around 30 to 45 seconds so that the engine can warm up a little bit. Then, use the dipstick under the hood to check the oil level. If you need to top off the oil level—now’s the time, otherwise, you’re good to go!
Make sure that you always dispose of the old oil properly. Take it to a recycling center or automobile shop. Never pour dirty oil down a drain

on Instagram and decided to give it a try. I have a terrible driving record, but Nathan still helped me. Before, almost no one wanted to insure me. Now, I have a great policy and save $200/month. I’m one happy gal!” —Terri C.

This app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message! Thank you so much for a hassle free experience👍
