Thankfully, Honda reintroduced the Special Edition on the 2022 Honda Accord Sport model, giving Accord enthusiasts more to drool over. So, what makes the Honda Accord Special Edition so special? Here to answer that question is licensed insurance broker and

What is the Honda Accord Special Edition?

The first Honda Accord Special Edition hit the streets in 1981 marking the 10th anniversary of the Japanese carmaker’s arrival to America. The ‘81 Special Edition was the highest level of luxury available on a Honda Accord, adding features such as power windows, power door locks, power sunroof, and leather seating. In 1981 the base model
Accord LX
retailed for $7,823, while the S.E. could be had for around $9,000.
The Special Edition has been in and out of the Honda Accord line-up since the early ‘80s, and there was no S.E. for the 2016 model year. The Sport trim was introduced to the Accord line-up in 2013, replacing the EX trim, and the Accord Sport Special Edition made its debut in 2021.

2016 Honda Accord overview

Before we talk about the Honda Accord Special Edition, let's take a closer look at the 2016 Honda Accord.
The Honda Accord has made Car and Driver’s annual 10 Best List a record 36 times—and 2016 was one of those magical years. And for good reason. The 2016 Honda Accord strikes the perfect balance between performance, safety, reliability, and functionality.
Great handling, a roomy interior, immaculate safety ratings, and respectable fuel efficiency all combine to make the Accord one of the best family sedans money can buy. No, it’s not as fast as the
Toyota Camry
, but its 2.4-liter 189-horsepower four-cylinder engine has enough power to put a smirk on your face. It may not have the cargo capacity of the Kia Soul, but with 101 cubic feet of passenger volume, the Accord can still haul a fair amount and doesn’t have to look like a refrigerator box on wheels to do it.
It’s that kind of versatility that has made the Honda Accord one of the most popular cars on the planet today.
