4.7/5 Rating on App Store
If you would like to enable your Acura’s remote start feature through the AcuraLink app (found in the Apple Store and Google Play), you must first sync the app to your vehicle. Here is a step-by-step guide:
  • Open the AcuraLink app, select add my vehicle, and scan your VIN.
  • Make sure the car is off and in park.
  • Click Verify Access.
  • While the app is connecting (loading), start your vehicle’s engine.
  • Within 60 seconds, a successful connection should be established.
Once you are properly synced up, using the remote start feature is incredibly easy: All you need to do is open up your AcuraLink app, swipe up to access remote commands, and simply click the start button (circled arrow icon) to ignite your engine!
Your engine will remain on for 10 minutes before automatically turning off. And don’t worry, 10 minutes is more than enough time for your Acura to get nice and warm on those cold winter mornings!

How to turn off your Acura remotely

Once you start your Acura, you have 10 minutes to either begin driving or turn your engine off. Luckily, the remote stop command can be done in the AcuraLink app, too!
Just swipe up on your remote commands and click the stop button (X icon). So if you choose to cancel those plans at the last minute, AcuraLink fully supports your decision!

Is Acura’s remote start app free?

AcuraLink is free to download, but the in-app remote start feature requires a subscription. Here’s a complete cost breakdown of the featured packages we outlined in the previous section:
  • Basic: Complimentary
  • Security: $89/year after 12-month free trial
  • Remote: $110/year after six-month free trial
  • Concierge (includes Remote features): $260/year after six-month free trial
However,
AcuraNews
recently announced the promotion that all 2023
Acura RDX
models will have a three-year free trial of AcuraLink’s security and remote packages. However, the 2023 RDX has a starting MSRP of almost $750 more than the 2022 model, so you’re technically still paying for it—a classic marketing move.

Which Acura vehicles have remote start?

Remote start through AcuraLink is available for Acuras that are 2014 or newer. More and more Acura models are starting to come standard with AcuraLink, but some still require the technology package to be compatible with the app.
If you’re unsure, Acura supports an intuitive
search filter for AcuraLink compatibility
for all its vehicles from all production years—follow the link to check it out!
However, even if Acura isn’t compatible with the AcuraLink app, it most likely still has remote start capabilities using the key fob (as long as the car has an automatic transmission). Once you’re in range, simply press the lock button on your fob, followed by pressing and holding the engine button.
Key Takeaway If your Acura is 2014 or newer, there’s a good chance it has AcuraLink compatibility, but you can always ask your dealer or use their search tool to make sure.
