background
If you need your 2008 Honda Odyssey radio code but don’t know where to look, start by checking your glove compartment and owner’s manual. If you can’t find it there, you can always look it up using your VIN and radio serial number.
  • Hondas require radio codes as a protective measure against theft, but you might need access to them yourself after changing your Odyssey’s battery.
  • Your Honda Odyssey radio code can usually be found on a sticker in your glove box or in your owner’s manual.
  • If you can’t find your radio code, you should be able to look it up online using your VIN.

Why your 2008 Honda Odyssey needs a radio code

Car radios are some of the most frequently stolen parts. That’s why car manufacturers (including Honda) started adding radio codes as a way to deter stereo theft.
Radio codes make it so that you can’t use your radio after the battery has died or been disconnected until you enter a numerical code. While that’s great for keeping would-be stereo bandits well away from your Odyssey, it’s less great when you’re just trying to perform regular car maintenance and listen to some music afterward.
Thankfully, there are a couple of different places you can look for your code—and once you’ve entered it, your radio will return to working like normal.

How to find your 2008 Honda Odyssey radio code

Radio codes are important—but you might not always need yours to get your radio working again. Before you search for the code, try pressing and holding down the radio power button for two seconds. Sometimes, this is all it takes to reset your radio.
To find the radio code, keep an eye out for a 5-digit code.
This is typically printed on a sticker located inside your glove compartment or on your owner’s manual. Keep your eyes peeled for labeling that reads “Anti-Theft Radio Code” (or something similar).
Remember, the code you’re looking for is just five numerical digits—anything longer, or that involves letters or symbols, isn’t the right code.

How to enter your 2008 Honda Odyssey radio code

To put a radio code into a Honda Odyssey, you’ll need to follow these simple steps:
  • Step 1: Turn on the ignition and make sure the display says Enter PIN Code.
  • Step 2: Turn off the radio while leaving the ignition on.
  • Step 3: Hold the #1 and #6 radio preset buttons at the same time. Then turn the radio back on. The screen should show you two different 5-digit codes.
  • Step 4: Write down each code—you should ignore the number at the beginning of each code.
  • Step 5: Combine the numbers into your eight-digit pin code and enter it into the radio.

How to look up a 2008 Honda Odyssey radio code

Let’s say you got your car used, and there’s not a sticker in sight, nor an owner’s manual to be found. What then?
There’s still another way to look up your radio code: all you need is your
vehicle identification number (VIN)
and radio serial number.
Your 17-digit VIN can be found on your insurance and registration cards and is probably also stamped to the lower left-hand side of your windshield. It’s also printed on all your Honda financial services bills—there are a lot of places you can check!
Finding your radio serial number, however, can be slightly trickier. Here’s what you need to do:
  • Start by holding down all six of your radio preset buttons.
  • While still holding the buttons down, turn your key to the ON position. This should start up your vehicle’s electrical components without actually firing up the car itself.
  • Keep an eye on the radio display: after a few seconds, a 10-digit serial number should appear.
Jot those numbers down, and have them handy while you navigate to Honda’s
online search tool
to search for your actual radio code. You may also need to enter your zip code, phone number, and email address. Alternatively, you can call 1-800-999-1009 to get your radio code right from a Honda rep.
Having trouble accessing your serial code? You can always schedule an appointment with your local Honda dealer for help. The technicians at the dealership can help you easily track down those five magic numbers that will return your radio to functioning condition.
