Why your 2009 Honda Odyssey needs a radio code

Radio codes are meant to act as a deterrent against theft—which makes sense, considering car radios are one of the most stolen objects during car thefts.
When a car radio gets disconnected from its power source, it will typically require you to enter a 5-digit radio code in order to be able to use it again.
However, if your 2009 Honda Odyssey’s car battery recently died or was replaced, you might find that this protective measure against theft is actually more of an inconvenience for you. And until you enter your radio code, you probably won’t get much use out of your stereo system.

How to find your 2009 Honda Odyssey radio code

Luckily, finding your 2009 Honda Odyssey radio code doesn’t take much time at all. You actually might end up not even needing to enter it—sometimes, you can simply reset your car radio by pressing and holding the power button to regain radio access.
If you still need to enter a radio code, the first place you’ll want to check for it is your glove compartment. There, you should typically be able to find either a Honda-issued card or a label stating both your 5-digit 2009 Honda Odyssey radio code and your 10-digit radio serial number. The sticker could be found on the inside of the glove box itself or attached to your owner’s manual.
Once you’ve found the radio code, just enter the 5-digit number using your radio’s numbered buttons to regain access.

How to look up a 2009 Honda Odyssey radio code

It’s certainly possible that your radio code information could’ve gotten misplaced over the years. If you don’t have any luck finding your 2009 Honda Odyssey radio code in your glove compartment, there’s still a way you can look it up. You’ll just need to know two other numbers first:
  • Your vehicle identification number (VIN): You can locate your VIN in a few different places, including on your dashboard, the label found on your driver’s side door jamb, your vehicle registration documents, and your
    proof of car insurance
    card.
  • Your radio serial number: This should also be found on the card or label listing your radio code, but if you can’t find that, there’s another trick you can try for 2002 and newer Hondas. Simply turn on your car radio and press and hold buttons “1” and “6” on the radio down at the same time. Your radio serial number should then display on the screen. Alternatively, if you feel comfortable doing so, you can gently remove your car radio and check the backside for a label with the serial number.
Once you’ve tracked down your VIN and radio serial number, it’s time to unlock the final number: your 2009 Honda Odyssey radio code. Here’s how you can find it:
  • Enter your Odyssey’s VIN, serial number, and any other necessary information
  • Check your email for your confirmation and your 2009 Honda Odyssey radio code
That’s all there is to it! If you end up needing additional help, you can call Honda’s customer service line at 1-800-999-1009 or contact your local Honda dealership.
