background
With Bluelink and the MyHyundai app, you can start your Hyundai remotely using a smartphone, smartwatch, or smart speaker. Some older Hyundais have a key fob that allows for a remote start, but Bluelink is the newest and most powerful option for Hyundais.
Is there anything cooler than starting your car remotely? How about heating it to the perfect temperature? With Bluelink, your Hyundai can do just that. Once you start your compatible car remotely, the engine will run for 15 minutes. Then, it will automatically turn off again for safety.

4.7/5 Rating on App Store
You will need the MyHyundai app, which is available on the Apple Store and Google Play. You can also get the app on your smartwatch, or use it with a smart speaker.
To get started, create an account with Bluelink. Then, install the app on your smartphone. Log in and connect your smartphone with your Hyundai by selecting the model.
Select Vehicle Status and then Remote Start. You may need to enter your MyHyundai PIN to complete the process.
You’re in! Now you can use your smart devices to control your Hyundai remotely.

How to turn your Hyundai off remotely

Once the engine is turned on via Remote Start, it will run for 15 minutes before shutting off.
You can also press and hold the Start button for two seconds to turn it off. The engine will turn off during a Remote Start when the brake pedal is engaged before the ignition key is used, when the tailgate or hood door is opened, or when the vehicle’s security system is triggered.
Turning your car on and off remotely is pretty nifty. But there are several other cool actions that Bluelink allows you to perform remotely:
  • Unlock and lock it: Allow a friend to get into your car when you’re not there—or lock it remotely if you forget.
  • Warm, cool, or defrost: Get your vehicle to the perfect temperature before you even leave the house.
  • Pre-warm seats: If your vehicle has heated seats and Bluelink, your butt will never be cold again.
  • Activate the horn and lights: Startle away thieves, stray animals, and anyone who you don’t want near your vehicle.
Hyundai’s Bluelink system is more than just eye candy. It offers a full suite of services, like diagnostic tools, find-my-car assistance, and more. Best of all, it syncs with your phone’s biometrics technology to ensure that you are the only one who can connect to your vehicle.

Is Hyundai’s remote start app free?

Hyundai’s Bluelink service is free for the first three years on equipped vehicles. Then, the cost is $99 per year for all Bluelink services.
Bluelink capability is built into some Hyundai vehicles. But to unlock it, you’ll need to activate the service with a Hyundai dealer. In these cars, the free trial lasts for three years.
Starting in 2021, remote start comes standard in some Hyundai models such as the Hyundai Turbo and Hyundai Sonata. To be certain, check the owner’s manual or ask the dealership.

Which Hyundai vehicles have remote start?

Bluelink launched in 2012 with the Hyundai Sonata. It is available on most Hyundais from 2013 and after, excluding some Accents, Elantras, and Tucsons.
The Remote Start feature is limited to Hyundai vehicles that have push-button-start key fobs and automatic or dual clutch transmissions. Some Hyundais can remote start via the key fob whereas others can remote start via a Bluelink subscription. If your vehicle is equipped with Bluelink, you can enroll at any time using your VIN and a credit card.
This functionality is not standard across all Hyundais or trim levels. Here’s a guide to which Hyundais have remote start capabilities via Bluelink.
