background
Car and Driver names the 2022 Hyundai Accent as their number one pick in the subcompact car category! This budget car offers a well-appointed interior for a great value.
You might not expect much from the 2022 Hyundai Accent since it’s a budget option—besides affordable
car insurance
, of course. But you’d be pleasantly surprised! Sure, the Accent doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of higher-end makes, but you’ll get comfortable seating, ample space for passengers, and all the essential modern conveniences you’d expect from a new car.
This is the last model year for the Accent, but its interior is going out in style. Here’s our complete review of the 2022 Hyundai Accent interior so you can see what makes this final production run such a great deal.

2022 Hyundai Accent interior

Before we jump into the Accent interior, let’s talk about the trim levels and the Accent’s main selling points—its excellent design and value. All three trim levels are pretty similar. A few tech offerings and heated seats are really the only things that set them apart.
All three trim levels enjoy a minimal, classy design, but that style doesn’t come at a great cost. The base SE trim starts at $16,645 MSRP, with the top-of-the-line
Accent Limited
trim starting at $19,600.
So, you won’t break the bank, but you’ll get a practical, no-frills cabin. Let’s see what else the Accent interior offers.

Seating

The Accent provides all the standard seating amenities you’ve come to expect but not much else. Cloth seating is standard, and five passengers can ride comfortably, although critics note that Hyundai could improve the cushions. You’ll get a 60/40 split rear seat.
You don’t have many options when it comes to upgraded
trim levels or package options
—no leather seating, ventilated seats, or power-adjustable seats. Heated front seats are the most notable perk that comes with the Limited trim.

Tech

For a value vehicle, the Accent is pretty generous with its standard features. You’ll enjoy a five-inch color touchscreen and a decent sound system. We’re talking about four speakers that play AM/FM/CD/MP3.
Here’s what else you’ll get:
  • Cruise control
  • Steering wheel-mounted audio controls
  • Bluetooth
  • Power windows and locks
  • Remote keyless entry (also on the SEL trim)
  • Rearview camera
  • Smartphone compatibility and a USB port
Upgrading to the SEL or Limited trim will improve your infotainment system. You’ll get a seven-inch touchscreen display audio system with better audio options—we’re talking AM/FM/Sirius XM Radio with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The system sounds better with six speakers!
Oh, and upgrading to the Limited trim also gets you a proximity key with a push-button start and automatic temperature control with an Auto Defogging System.

Storage

The cargo capacity of the Accent is where the little subcompact takes a hit. You’ll only get 13.7 cubic feet of trunk space. However, you can fold down the rear seats if you need to haul oversized items.
Check out the
Nissan Versa
or
Kia Rio
hatchback if you’re looking for more space. The Versa offers 14.7 cubic feet, while the Rio hatchback boasts 17.4 cubic feet behind the back seat, which opens up to 32.8 cubic feet with the seats down.

Style

If we had to describe the Accent’s style in just a few words, we’d say it’s minimal, uncomplicated, and professional. You simply don’t get fun or distinctive interior styling. You can choose a black interior, which comes across as businesslike, or beige, which makes the cabin feel more comfortable and well-appointed.
Overall, reviewers don’t knock the Accent for its simplistic style—they note that you get what you pay for. With the Accent, you get a reliable subcompact car at a good value. So what if the interior is a little boring?
