The most common 2016 Acura TLX problems

Overall,
Acuras
are reliable vehicles with great features. However, the 2016 Acura TLX does have some issues. According to CoPilot, the 2015 version had the highest number of issues, followed closely by the 2016 TLX.
The biggest problems that drivers reported are transmission and electrical system issues. The transmission was never recalled but drivers report that it sometimes slips into neutral while driving. The electrical system is faulty in that it periodically turns dashboard lights on.
Another complaint that comes up is rough down-shifting. The car jerks forward after stopping and going. As a result of these issues—and the fact that the eight-speed DCT was never recalled—a class-action lawsuit was filed against Acura.
Acura only announced one recall for the 2016 TLX, which is for the
fuel pump
. The reduced performance of the fuel pump can cause the engine to stall and could result in a car accident.
Honda
(Acura’s parent company) notified owners and ordered dealers to update the software and replace the fuel pumps if necessary.

Is the 2016 Acura TLX reliable?

Despite the aforementioned issues, the 2016 Acura TLX has a high reliability score. RepairPal gives it a 4.5 out of 5, which puts it in the No. 1 spot for luxury midsize cars.
J.D. Power, on the other hand, gives it a rating of 80/100. This puts the TLX a bit above average for reliability and ranks it No. 3 among compact premium cars.
The average annual
car repair
cost for this vehicle is $357significantly lower than the average for a luxury midsize car, which is an estimated $739.
