Luxury cars
come in all shapes and sizes, and even a muscle car can be a luxury car. For example, not only is the
Chevy Corvette Z06
an extremely fast car, but it's also quite nice on the inside.
Here's a look at the Equus Bass 770, a luxury muscle car that, like the Corvette, also combines muscle and comfort in the same expensive package.

The Equus Bass 770 is a brand-new breed of muscle car

Most muscle cars nowadays have a long history, likely dating back decades all the way to the 50s and 60s. For example, that's exactly the case with the Dodge Challenger or the Chevy Camaro. Both are legendary muscle cars with powerful engines, and a well-known name.
However, this isn't the case with the Equus Bass 770.
According to
Motor Authority
, contrary to its name, this muscle car isn't associated with the Hyundai Equus in any way. It's a muscle car that's built in America by a company called Equus. Unlike other muscle cars, Equus is actually a brand-new company that was founded in 2008.

Just how powerful is the Equus Bass 770?

Equus was free to do whatever it wanted from the ground up with the car. From the outside, the Bass 770 obviously drew some inspiration from classic muscle cars such as the Mustang or the Camaro.
That's a similar story under the hood. It's equipped with a 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine. This powerful engine gets 640 horsepower and 605 lb-ft of torque. When it comes to speed, though, horsepower isn't the only thing that matters.
Weight also matters, and that's where Equus took a lot of inspiration from racing cars. The skin uses aluminum and carbon fiber, and the result is that it weighs just 3,640 pounds.
When the owner of this beast of a muscle car puts their foot down, it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. If they hold their foot down long enough, the Bass 770 can even hit 200 mph.

On the inside, Equus aimed to deliver a comfortable and luxurious experience. The car is equipped with a bunch of features, such as Magnetic Selective Ride Control, and they will help provide a smooth ride. These features will also help the car handle well, which means it should chew up corners on the racetrack.
Its interior is also relatively high-tech and comfortable. There's an infotainment screen, as well as leather upholstery everywhere.
Its price tag, however, is probably one of the more interesting aspects of the car. It debuted in the 2014 model year, and despite not being a well-known muscle car, it started at about $250,000. With extras, the Bass 770 could cost drivers up to $290,000 at the time.
And, just like how vintage muscle cars have grown in value over the years, the same thing's happened with the Bass 770. Currently, this car can be bought for over $500,000, which is a pretty big increase from before.
